Maverick County Registration Does Not Need Emissions Testing

TxDMV says that, as of January 1, 2025, non-commercial vehicles no longer need a safety inspection before registration. Emissions inspections still apply in the listed emissions counties, and Maverick County is not on that list.

The Maverick County Tax Assessor-Collector administers local vehicle registration and titling. TxDMV also lists the Maverick County tax office for registration renewals, title transfers, address changes, disabled parking placards, and related motor vehicle services.

Commercial vehicles still have inspection rules, and state rules can change. Check TxDMV and the county tax office before a renewal, purchase, or address change.
