Coastal properties in Nueces County may need windstorm insurance from a state pool

TWIA is the insurer of last resort for coastal Texas. You can apply if a regular insurance company has turned you down for wind or hail coverage. TWIA covers houses, personal property, manufactured homes, and commercial buildings in Nueces County.

Structures must have a WPI-8 certificate showing they were built to windstorm building code standards. This certificate comes from the Texas Department of Insurance or TWIA.
