Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Travis County

The Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center is at 4801 La Crosse Avenue in southwest Austin. The University of Texas at Austin runs it. The center studies and promotes native Texas plants. That includes bluebonnets, Indian paintbrush, and other wildflowers that bloom across Travis County in spring.

The center is open to the public. You can walk the trails, explore the display gardens, and join educational programs. Spring is the showy season, when wildflowers make the place feel very Austin. The site also does research on restoring natural habitats and using plants that fit the local environment.
