Large Travis County Events May Need Fire Marshal Permits

For a large event outside city limits, the Travis County Fire Marshal may be the office to deal with. Event permits run through the fire marshal's permit portal.

Mass-gathering rules can pull in several pieces at once. Fireworks, tents, membrane structures, stages, drive-in concerts, and other fire permits may each have a part.

Assembly sites also need an Emergency Preparedness Plan. There is a narrow worship exception under an occupant load of 2,000. For a festival, concert, race, market, or private-venue event, the fire-access plan is much cheaper to fix on paper than during event week.
