Alcohol Permit
Alcohol Permits in Austin Start With TABC, Then City Signoff
The City of Austin says businesses applying for a liquor license or beer permit from the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission must get the City Clerk's signature on the TABC form after completing the permitting process. The city points applicants to TABC's Alcohol Industry Management System (AIMS) first.
After the TABC application is submitted, Austin tells applicants to contact the City Clerk's Office to start the local signature process. The city process includes zoning approval, so a TABC application by itself is not the whole local check. For a bar, restaurant, brewery taproom, grocery beer-and-wine setup, or event venue, confirm both TABC and Austin steps before opening or changing alcohol service.
