Tornadoes Are a Real Hazard in Dallas County
The National Weather Service keeps a Dallas County tornado record that begins in 1880. Its local page lets you sort the record by year, rating, month, and time of day. That is more useful than a broad 'Tornado Alley' label because it shows what has actually been recorded in this county.
Choose a shelter spot before storms arrive. NWS guidance is a basement or safe room when available; otherwise use a small, windowless interior room on the lowest floor. Do not wait for a warning and then drive around looking for a public shelter. Keep more than one way to receive official warnings.
