Multiple Taxing Units Set Your Total Property Tax Bill

More than one taxing unit can attach to a Rusk County address. The Comptroller's list includes Rusk County, school districts such as Henderson, Kilgore, Overton, and Tatum, cities, the Kilgore College District in its service area, and the Rusk County Groundwater Conservation District.

Your total property tax rate adds the rates for the units that cover that address. A house inside Henderson city limits will not have the same mix as land outside a city.

Use the Comptroller's Rusk County directory as the starting map. It lists the active units and links to county tax notices. Those notices are tied to a tax year, so check the address, year, exemptions, and units before you estimate a bill.
