STEAR helps Fort Bend planners find residents who may need help

STEAR stands for the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry. It is a free list, and joining is your choice. It is for people who may need help in an emergency. That may be due to a disability, health issue, trouble moving, lack of a ride, trouble speaking or hearing, or a need for daily care.

Sign up at stear.texas.gov. You can also call 2-1-1 or 877-541-7905. Fort Bend County Health and Human Services can help at 281-342-3411. The entry lasts one year and must be renewed.

The list helps local planners and responders know who may need help. It does not promise evacuation, rescue, a ride, or any other service. Keep a household plan too.
