A Kaufman County septic system starts with an approved plan
A rural home without public sewer may need an on-site sewage facility, or OSSF. A permit and approved plan are usually needed to build, change, repair, extend, or use one.
Texas has a narrow 10-acre exception with six tests. Acreage alone is not enough. Some emergency repairs may start first, but TCEQ says they must be reported in writing within 72 hours.
Before buying, match the permit to the house, bedroom count, lot, and system. Ask Kaufman County if an owner may install that system. Ownership and use rules still apply.
