Two Offices Handle Property Tax in Collingsworth County
Most Texas counties split the job: one office decides what your land is worth, a separate office sends the bill and takes your money. Collingsworth folds both halves into the Collingsworth County Appraisal District. It values your property and it collects the tax, too. The county tax assessor-collector, the office that does this work almost everywhere else, doesn't collect property taxes here.
So a question about your bill, a payment, or a homestead exemption all go to one door, the appraisal district at 800 West Ave., Room 1, in Wellington, reachable at 806-447-5172. The tax assessor-collector shares that same building, at Box 2, but you'd go there for vehicle registration and the other assessor work, not your tax statement. Knowing which window to walk up to saves you a wasted trip across the courthouse.
