Carson County Has Two Separate Tax Offices

Both offices sit a few blocks apart on Main Street in Panhandle, but they do entirely different jobs, and people waste a lot of time calling the wrong one. The Carson County Appraisal District, at 102 Main St., decides what your property is worth. That is the office to deal with when you file for a homestead exemption or think your value came in too high and want to protest it.

Your actual bill comes from the Carson County Tax Assessor-Collector, down the street at 501 Main St. They send the statement, take your payment, and handle the registration side of things. Different building, different phone, different website. A protest goes to 102 Main; a check goes to 501. Get that straight up front and you skip a transfer and a second phone call.
