Tax Payment
Fort Bend Property Taxes Can Be Checked and Paid Through the Tax Office
The Fort Bend County Tax Assessor-Collector is the office that actually collects your property tax, separate from the appraisal district that sets your value. You can look up any account, pay online by credit card or by e-check, and sign up to get your certified tax statement by email instead of waiting on the mail. Paying by e-check avoids the card convenience fee.
Knowing which office does what saves a lot of frustration. Questions about the dollar amount, the due date, or whether a payment posted go to the tax office. Questions about your home's value, an exemption, or a protest go to FBCAD instead.
If a mortgage company, title company, or a relative is supposed to be handling the bill, don't take it on faith. Pull the account up directly on the tax office's site and confirm it was actually paid. An unpaid balance keeps adding penalty and interest no matter who was supposed to cover it.
