Who Handles Your Property Tax in Jones County
The number on your tax bill starts at 1137 E. Court Plaza in Anson, where the Jones County Appraisal District sets the value of your property. That value is the thing to argue with if it looks too high, and it's the same office you go to for a homestead or any other exemption. You'll find them at 325-823-2422 or jonescad.org.
The Tax Assessor-Collector is a separate office a few blocks over, at 101 Courthouse Square. That's where you handle vehicle registration and a handful of other county errands, but not your property tax. Those payments run through the appraisal district directly, so if you mail a check to the courthouse square office expecting it to cover your taxes, you've sent it to the wrong building. When in doubt, the appraisal district is the one to call first.
