Who Handles Property Taxes in Kent County

Two offices handle property taxes here. The Kent County Appraisal District sets the value of your property each year. The Tax Assessor-Collector then sends bills and collects what you owe. They are in the same small town but are separate offices.

The appraisal district is at 155 S. Main St., Jayton, and can be reached at 806-237-3066. The tax assessor-collector is at 227 S. Main St., Jayton, at 806-237-3746. The only taxing units in the county are Kent County itself, Jayton-Girard ISD, and the City of Jayton. To apply for a homestead exemption, you file with the appraisal district. Check the Texas Comptroller's county directory for the current deadline and forms.
