Two offices handle your property tax in Kendall County

Your property tax in Kendall County runs through two different offices on two different streets in Boerne, and they do very different jobs. The Kendall County Appraisal District, at 118 Market Ave., decides what your property is worth. If that number looks too high, this is where you fight it, by mail, in person, or through the protest process at kendallad.org.

The bill itself comes from somewhere else. The Tax Assessor-Collector, over at 201 E. San Antonio St., collects the money and takes your payment. Call the appraisal district about a value you disagree with; call the assessor-collector about what you owe or how to pay it.

One bill, but the dollars get split among roughly 14 separate taxing units (the school districts, the cities, the water and emergency-services districts), and each one sets its own rate. That's why a rate change at the Boerne school district or the county can move your total even when your home's appraised value hasn't budged. The Comptroller keeps a current directory of every one of those units if you ever need to track down which office set which line on your statement.
