Cooke County has eight school districts — your address determines yours

Cooke County is split among Gainesville ISD, Muenster ISD, Valley View ISD, Callisburg ISD, Era ISD, Lindsay ISD, Walnut Bend ISD, and Sivells Bend ISD. Each district sets its own tax rate. Two properties a few miles apart may owe very different school taxes.

When buying land or a home outside Gainesville city limits, confirm which ISD the property falls in before closing. The Cooke County Appraisal District can tell you which taxing units apply to a specific parcel. School tax is usually the largest line item on a Texas property tax bill.
