Mission Reach Makes the San Antonio River Feel Like a Southside Park
Mission Reach is the southside, nature-forward stretch of the San Antonio River Walk. The San Antonio River Authority calls it an eight-mile linear park with more than 16 miles of trail, used for walking, biking, canoeing, and kayaking.
This part of the river feels different from the downtown River Walk. The River Authority says native Texas grasses and wildflowers were restored along the banks to support wildlife, and art gateways called Mission Portals point visitors toward the San Antonio World Heritage mission sites that line the corridor.
For residents and visitors, Mission Reach shows that the river isn't only a downtown attraction. It is also a southside corridor for outdoor time, paddling, and mission-area history.
