Loving is a small Young County community north of Graham with a trail story in its name. The place sat on the Goodnight-Loving Trail and on land tied to the Lost Valley Loving Ranch. When the Gulf, Texas and Western Railroad came through in 1910, the town shifted toward the tracks.

The name works because it is local, not decorative. The community was named for the Oliver Loving family, and by the 1930s it had a school, a bank, churches, and several businesses. Grain and poultry tied that town life to the farms around it.
