Gregg County's city map still carries the oil boom

Longview is the county seat. Eight other cities lie wholly or partly in Gregg County: Kilgore, Gladewater, White Oak, Lakeport, Easton, East Mountain, Clarksville City, and Warren City. Some cross a county line. A city name alone cannot settle a parcel's county or tax lines.

Kilgore became a city in February 1931 as oil workers poured in. Gladewater first became a city in 1874, but that status later lapsed. It received a new charter in 1931 as the oil boom grew. The two stories leave the boom right on today's map.

Seven school districts serve parts of Gregg County: Gladewater, Kilgore, Longview, Pine Tree, Sabine, Spring Hill, and White Oak. They are not city departments. Start with Gregg CAD's parcel search for the tax district. Then ask that school district about its campus lines and transfer rules.
