Know Your Hurricane Evacuation Zone Before Storm Season

Before a storm threatens Cameron County, check the county's evacuation-zone information and TxDOT's Rio Grande Valley routes. Storm surge and flooded roads can cut off a planned way out. Follow local evacuation instructions rather than waiting for a forecast track to cross your address.

If you may need help leaving, register with the State of Texas Emergency Assistance Registry through TDEM or by calling 2-1-1. STEAR is free. It gives local responders planning information, but it does not guarantee a ride, rescue, or other service.

Register early, keep your own evacuation plan, and renew the STEAR entry each year. Ask Cameron County Emergency Management at 956-547-7000 how local assistance works. Do not wait until the storm to arrange needed transport.
