Andy Bowie Park Anchors the North End of South Padre Island

Andy Bowie Park is the county's beach park up at the north end of South Padre Island, across from the convention center and just before the developed strip gives way to open beach. The county runs it as Beach Access #2.

It's set up for a full beach day: large surf-side picnic pavilions, RV camping, rinse stations and showers, food and beach-gear concessions, parking, restrooms, and seasonal lifeguards. It's also the jumping-off point for the long stretch of driveable beach that runs north from here.

Together, Andy Bowie on the north and Isla Blanca on the south keep South Padre from feeling like one identical strip — they bookend the county's piece of the island. Check Cameron County Parks for current hours, reservations, and any beach-access updates before planning around it.
