White-Tailed Deer and Turkey Hunting in McLennan County

McLennan County follows North Zone deer rules. The county bag limit is five deer, no more than two bucks, across all deer seasons combined. A legal buck must have at least one unbranched antler or an inside spread of 13 inches or greater. Only one buck may be taken under the 13-inch spread rule.

Turkey rules change at I-35. West of the highway, fall and spring hunting share an annual limit of four gobblers or bearded hens. East of I-35, the spring-only limit is one gobbler. TPWD requires a turkey harvest to be reported through its app or online system within 24 hours, and season dates should be checked in the current Outdoor Annual.
