Your Wilson County Homestead Form Goes to WCAD

If a Wilson County house is yours and you live there as your main home, a residence homestead exemption can lower its taxable value. For 2026, each Texas school district must exempt $140,000. An owner who is age 65 or older or disabled may qualify for another $60,000 school exemption. Cities, the county, and other local tax units may add their own exemptions, so the total can vary by address.

Fill out Texas Form 50-114 and send it to Wilson County Appraisal District. The usual filing window is January 1 through April 30. The form says you can file late for up to two years after the deadline. It also requires a Texas driver's license or state ID unless one of its listed exceptions applies.

After the chief appraiser grants the exemption, you usually do not file again each year. WCAD can still ask for a new application. You must also tell the chief appraiser in writing before May 1 of the next year if you no longer qualify. WCAD has online forms and an office at 1611 Railroad Street in Floresville.
