The Historic Battlefield Trail Is Brownsville's Bike Spine
The Historic Battlefield Trail is Brownsville's main everyday outdoor route. The city describes it as a nine-mile hike-and-bike path running through the middle of town, from Linear Park out to Palo Alto Battlefield National Historical Park — the site of the first major battle of the Mexican-American War.
It's built as more than recreation. Brownsville calls it the 'spine' of its hike-and-bike network, connecting historic and cultural stops along the way, with rest areas, water fountains, info kiosks, and a bike repair station at Linear Park.
For residents, this is the trail that makes it realistic to get around Brownsville on foot or by bike. Check the city trail page for access points and current conditions before you ride.
