A Local District Regulates Water Wells Here

Before a rig drills a water well in Kimble County, the paperwork needs to be in order. The Kimble County Groundwater Conservation District works from 731 Main Street, Suite B, in Junction. Its forms page starts a new well with an Intent to Drill form. Its rules also require registration for existing and future wells.

Small home and livestock wells may not need the same permit as larger wells. The district sorts wells into exempt and non-exempt groups. Non-exempt wells need a permit application. Ask that question early if you are buying acreage, hiring a driller, or trying to reuse an old well.
