Game Rooms in Unincorporated Areas Go Through the Sheriff's Office

Game rooms have their own local permit path in Brazoria County. The county's Sheriff's Office runs the Game Room Permit Administrator, who approves or denies applications and enforces game room regulations across the unincorporated parts of the county.

It is not a casual sign-up. The application carries a $500 non-refundable fee paid to the county before you can apply, and once your initial inspection happens you have 60 days to finish the inspection process or the application is denied. If you are denied, you can request a written hearing before Commissioners Court within 14 days. Regulations and forms are available at the Sheriff's Office or on the county game room page.

If you are leasing space for amusement machines or a game room outside city limits, check the Sheriff's Office page before you sign. The location, the ownership paperwork, and the county process can decide whether the business can legally operate there at all.
