Brazos County food businesses work with the Health District

Food service in Brazos County runs through the Brazos County Health District. That includes restaurants, stores, bars, and temporary vendors. The retail food page walks new locations through plan review and links to the permit application.

Two timing rules catch new owners. Annual health permits renew by December 31. A permit also does not transfer when a business changes hands; a new owner applies fresh.

For a one-time booth, the temporary food application must be turned in in person at least three business days ahead. A farmers-market booth, bar, full kitchen, and ownership change each raise different questions.
