Jim Wells County's current FEMA map set took effect August 15, 2017. Search the address and panel, then place the house or planned building on the map. A shaded corner of a large tract does not answer the loan question by itself.

Federal flood insurance is required when a secured building lies in a Special Flood Hazard Area and the loan is federally regulated, supervised, insured, or backed. A lender may set broader terms too.

The Map Service Center is the official lookup. The Texas Flood Information Viewer adds watershed context. Neither map promises that land outside the 1% annual-chance area will stay dry.
