Alcohol Licenses Need City Certification in Eagle Pass
For alcohol sales inside Eagle Pass, TABC is the state licensing agency, but the city still has a local certification step. The city FAQ says TABC requires the application to be certified by the City Secretary where the proposed business is located.
The City Secretary checks the property's local classification. For off-premise sales, the city says the property must be in a commercial zone. For on-premise consumption, the property must be in an approved wet zone.
That means the order matters: check TABC, then verify zoning or wet-zone status with Eagle Pass before signing a lease or buying a business. A prior tenant's license does not prove the next use will be approved.
