Dove Season Dates in Ector County Depend on Which Side of I-20 You Hunt

Dove hunting is popular in Ector County, but season dates depend on where you are. North of Interstate 20, you are in the North Zone. South of I-20, you are in the Central Zone. Each zone has different opening and closing dates. For the 2025–2026 season, North Zone opened September 1 and Central Zone also opened September 1 but closed earlier in the fall segment.

All dove hunters need a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement and must be registered in the federal Harvest Information Program (HIP). The daily bag limit is 15 doves in the aggregate. Always check the current TPWD Outdoor Annual for exact dates before going out.
