Six inches of fast water can take control away from a driver

A road that looks familiar can change under moving water. TxDOT warns that six inches of fast water may make a driver lose control. The road bed may also be damaged where the water hides it. Do not test the depth or drive around a barrier.

DriveTexas shows conditions on the state highway system, including FM roads. A county road may call for Wilson County or local emergency notices instead. During heavy rain, check both and keep a second route in mind. Turning around is useful information, not a failed trip.
