Looking Up Land Records in Kerr County

Every deed, lien, plat, and trustee's foreclosure notice in Kerr County lands in the same place: the County Clerk's office at 700 Main Street in Kerrville, the official keeper of the real-property records. You don't have to drive in to look. The clerk runs a free public search at ava.fidlar.com, where you can pull up the official public records and chase a chain of title back through the old county books.

Recording a document there isn't free, though. The clerk charges $25 for the first page and $4 for each page after, so a fat multi-page deed or release adds up. And as of September 1, 2025, anyone physically presenting a document for filing in the real-property records has to show a photo ID at the counter, a fraud-prevention step that catches people who used to drop paperwork off without thinking about it.

Worth remembering what these records are and aren't: they show what's been recorded against a property, not what it's worth (that's the appraisal district) and not whether a deed is legally sound. For a closing, an estate, a boundary fight, or anything touching minerals, the recorded record is a starting point, not a substitute for a title company or a lawyer.
