Austin County Deed Records Start with the County Clerk

For a copy of a deed or another real-property record, start with the Austin County Clerk at 265 N. Chesley Street, Suite 7, in Bellville. The clerk directs copy requests to [email protected] and also accepts electronic recording.

The free AVA search covers January 1, 1824, through December 31, 1907, then January 1, 1983, to the present. If the year you need falls outside those online windows, ask the clerk how to search or request the record.

Anyone presenting a real-property document in person must show photo ID. The clerk also offers a free Property Fraud Alert when a name may be recorded in the office. For an in-person filing, bring the document and photo ID. For monitoring, sign up for the alert from the clerk's page.
