Kenedy County Is in TWIA Windstorm Territory
Kenedy County's east side faces the Gulf, Padre Island, and the Laguna Madre. That puts the county inside Texas' coastal catastrophe area for windstorm coverage.
TWIA is the wind and hail insurer of last resort for this coast. To qualify, the property must be in the designated area, and the applicant must have a denial from at least one authorized insurer that writes wind and hail coverage there.
The building also has to meet TWIA rules. Many homes need a windstorm certificate, such as a WPI-8, WPI-8-E, or WPI-8-C. Before you rely on a quote, bring the address and any windstorm paperwork to a licensed agent or TWIA.
