Clear Creek Links Prairie View, Hempstead, and the Brazos

Clear Creek begins north of Prairie View. It flows southwest around Hempstead, then joins the Brazos River in western Waller County. That route links campus country, the county seat, and the river bottom.

The creek carries relatively clear water over sand. Hardwoods, farmland, and wetlands line its banks. Fish include channel catfish, bluegill, green and longear sunfish, western mosquitofish, and several kinds of minnows.

Clear Creek appears in TPWD's Region H planning list of significant streams. The listed reach runs from the Brazos to the headwaters north of Prairie View. This is planning information, not a sign of public access. The same record credits the creek's woods and wetlands with slowing floodwater and helping water quality.
