Hunting in Cameron County: Seasons and Bag Limits

White-tailed deer season in Cameron County runs from archery in late September through a general season ending in January, with a bag limit of five deer, no more than three bucks. Wild turkey bag limit is four gobblers or bearded hens. The plain chachalaca, a South Texas specialty bird, has a season from late October through late February with a daily limit of five.

Migratory bird hunting (doves, ducks, geese) requires a Migratory Game Bird Endorsement plus federal HIP Certification, and duck hunters also need a Federal Duck Stamp. Turkey harvest must be reported via app or online. All seasons and limits are set by TPWD and change annually, so always check the current Outdoor Annual at tpwd.texas.gov before hunting.
