The Blanco River slips above and below the Hill Country limestone

The Blanco runs from the Wimberley Valley toward the San Marcos River. It trades water with the Middle Trinity Aquifer along the way. Springs add flow in some spots. Other reaches lose water into the rock.

Near the Edwards recharge zone, some flow sinks again. That water can help feed springs away from the river. One reach may look full after rain while another runs thin in a dry spell.

Much of the bank is private. TPWD offers a leased public site in Hays County, with rules that can change. Use its current access details and check local flood tools when rain is near.
