Black Rock Park Is Llano County's Lake Buchanan Camp Base
Black Rock Park sits on Lake Buchanan at 3400 State Highway 261 near Buchanan Dam. It is an LCRA park, and that matters on the ground. Eastern Llano County gets much of its outdoor identity from the Highland Lakes, not from a large city park system.
The park is built for staying close to the water. LCRA Parks lists Airstreams, campsites, full-hookup RV sites, cabins, fishing, swimming areas, watercraft rentals, a playground, picnic tables, grills, and a sand volleyball court. That range makes it a practical base camp, but the deeper point is geographic: Llano County has a real public front door to Lake Buchanan.
For someone new to the county, Black Rock helps separate the lake map from the courthouse map. Llano the town sits on the river and courthouse stone. Black Rock sits in the lake country created by the Colorado River dams, where weekends are measured in campsites, rentals, and shoreline. That public lake access is a real part of the county's identity, not a side trip from it.
