Jim Wells property-tax questions start at the appraisal district

Jim Wells County Appraisal District, or JWCAD, appraises taxable property and handles exemptions and special appraisal. It also receives value protests. Its office is at 1600 E. Main St., Suite 100, in Alice.

The county Tax Assessor-Collector does not collect property tax. That office, at 601 E. Main St., Suite 175, handles vehicle titles and registration. A property-tax payment question belongs with JWCAD instead.
