Two Offices Handle Your Property Tax in Howard County

The Howard County Appraisal District (HCAD) decides what your property is worth for tax purposes. That value is set each year. If you think the value is wrong, you can protest it with HCAD. The appraisal district is at 315 S. Main St. in Big Spring.

A separate office, the Tax Assessor-Collector, sends the actual tax bills and collects payments. These two offices are different and handle different steps.
