Toyah, Texas

Toyah is a small town in Reeves County, in the arid Trans-Pecos country of far West Texas, roughly 92 miles southwest of Odessa. It grew as a stop on the railroad and served for a time as a cattle-shipping and railroad center before declining sharply through the twentieth century. Today much of the town stands largely emptied, with weathered buildings remaining on the dry plain as reminders of its railroad-era past.

Property here runs through the Reeves Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Reeves County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
