Spofford, Texas

Spofford is a small city in Kinney County, in the border country of far southwest Texas, sitting in the brushland roughly 115 miles southwest of San Antonio and about 126 miles northwest of Laredo. The surrounding terrain is dry rangeland typical of the region between the Edwards Plateau and the Rio Grande, given to ranching and mesquite scrub. It grew up along the railroad line that crosses this corner of the state and has remained a very small community.

Property here runs through the Kinney Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Kinney County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
