Rule, Texas

Rule is a small town in Haskell County, on the rolling plains of West Texas about 51 miles northwest of Abilene. It was established in the early twentieth century as a railroad town and became a trading center for the cotton farms and cattle ranches around it. The land nearby is open farm and range country typical of the region.

Property here runs through the Haskell Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Haskell County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
