Round Mountain, Texas

Round Mountain is a small town in Blanco County, set in the granite-and-limestone hills of Central Texas roughly 38 miles west of Austin. It began as a stage stop on the old mail route between Austin and Fredericksburg and takes its name from a nearby rounded hill. Several early buildings survive from that era, including a restored stagecoach inn and a nineteenth-century church, and the surrounding country is ranchland and Hill Country brush.

Property here runs through the Blanco Central Appraisal District and the county tax office — the homestead exemption, the appraisal cap, protests, and any MUD, PID, or special districts all sit at the parcel level. The Blanco County notes below cover the practical details, with the official county directory for the appraisal district and tax office.
