Lone Oak is a small city in Hunt County, in the rolling farmland and prairie of North Texas about 42 miles east of Garland. The surrounding country lies within the watershed of the Sabine River and near Lake Tawakoni, a large reservoir that draws anglers and boaters to the region. The town serves as a rural trade center for the farms and ranches spread across the eastern part of the county.
