Lake Lavon Has Tested Positive for Zebra Mussels

Zebra mussels can hitch a ride on boats, trailers, livewells, and other gear. TPWD lists Lake Lavon as positive. That means mussels or larvae were found more than once, but there is no proof that a breeding group is established.

TPWD recommends Clean, Drain, and Dry. Texas law requires boaters to drain water from the boat and its containers when leaving or nearing public fresh water. Some exceptions apply. In general, it is illegal to possess or move zebra mussels, even when they are stuck to a boat or trailer.
