Wichita Bluff Gives the Circle Trail a River View

The Wichita Bluff Trail gives the city trail system a brief rise above the river corridor. Completed in 2017, the 1.2-mile trail crosses the Wichita Bluff Nature Area. A 0.6-mile connector now reaches Loop 11, making the combined section 1.8 miles.

Another 0.75 miles continues east from Loop 11 along the Wichita River. Those short links keep the bluff from standing alone as a roadside overlook. The nature-area parking lot and river view become part of the same paved network that follows the river and Holliday Creek through Wichita Falls.

The section is modest in distance but distinct in shape. Much of the Circle Trail runs beside water or through low park ground; Wichita Bluff adds a higher view before the route drops back into the larger system. It is a small change in elevation that makes the citywide trail feel less like one long strip of concrete.
