Webb County Is Overwhelmingly Hispanic
About 95.3% of Webb County's population was Hispanic as of 2014, according to the Texas Handbook. Laredo is the county seat. The 2020 census counted 255,205 people living in Laredo. More than 90% of all county residents live in Laredo.
Spanish is spoken alongside English every day — in homes, businesses, and local government. The county's Tejano heritage goes back before Texas was a state. Many families have roots on both sides of the Rio Grande. That long, shared history makes Laredo feel different from most other large Texas cities.
