Jasper County registration skips the emissions-test step

Some jobs go to the TxDMV regional center at 8550 Eastex Freeway in Beaumont. That office handles replacement titles, bonded-title rejection letters, and title errors. The Jasper office handles the usual title and registration work, so the Beaumont trip is for a narrower problem.

Jasper County is not part of the Texas emissions-testing program. Gas cars registered here do not need an emissions test before renewal. The papers and fees still change with the job, so a renewal and a title transfer will not use exactly the same checklist.

The test rule follows the county on the registration. A car still registered in an emissions county stays under that county's rule. After the registration moves to Jasper County, the annual emissions test drops out of later renewals. The address on the registration, not where you happened to drive from, is what matters.
