Austin County Is Outside the Vehicle Emissions Program

For title transfers and common registration work, use the Austin County Tax Office at 804 E. Wendt Street in Bellville. It handles title transfers and tag renewals. It also handles address changes, disabled parking placards, short-term tags, and copies of registration receipts.

Austin County is not in the state emissions test program as of August 17, 2026. The rule follows the county where the car is registered. A car registered in Austin County does not need the yearly emissions test used in the listed counties.
